Background |
The mesothelin gene encodes a 71-kDa precursor protein that is processed to a 40-kDa glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored glycoprotein, mesothelin, present on the cell surface. Mesothelin is a differentiation antigen expressed in a restricted subset of normal adult tissues, primarily the mesothelium. In contrast, it is highly overexpressed in various malignancies, including ovarian cancer, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), colorectal cancer (CRC), and mesothelioma. Due to its limited expression in normal tissues, high tumor specificity, and involvement in tumor progression and prognosis, mesothelin is considered a promising target for tumor immunotherapy.

Quality Control |
Flow cytometry assay using R47 monoclonal antibody. A431 cells (mesothelin-negative) and A431 (mesothelin++), which overexpress mesothelin, were incubated with 1 µg antibody in 1 mL PBS containing 5% BSA. Antibody binding was detected with Cy5-conjugated goat anti-rabbit antibody. Blue line: isotype control; red line: R47 staining.
