Description |
S. pombe Poly(U) (Poly(A)) Polymerase uses ATP as a substrate for template-independent addition of UMP from UTP or AMP from ATP to the 3´ hydroxyl termini of RNA molecules.
|
Applications |
- Labeling of RNA with UTP
- Poly(U) and Poly(A) tailing of RNA for cloning
- Enhance mRNA stability and increase translation efficiency of in vitro synthesized mRNA transferred into eukaryotic cells
- Poly (A) tailing of 2' O-Me modified 3' ends

Source |
A recombinant E. coli strain carrying yeast (Schizosaccharomyces pombe) Poly(A) Polymerase gene Cid1 |
Unit Definition |
1 unit is defined as the amount of enzyme that will incorporate 1 nmol of UMP into into RNA in 50 µl in 10 minutes at 37°C. |
Components |
- S. pombe Poly(U) Polymerase: 20 mM Tris-HCl, 300 mM NaCl, 1 mM DTT, 1 mM EDTA, 50% Glycerol, 0.1% Triton® X-100, pH 7.5 @ 25°C
- 10X Reaction Buffer: 100 mM Tris-HCl,500 mM NaCl, 100 mM MgCl2,10 mM DTT, pH 7.9 @ 25°C
